Belknap is a native of Damariscotta in Maine. She is the daughter of David Belknap, along with Louise Belknap. Her education was at Lincoln Academy located in Newcastle Maine. When she was an undergraduate of Middlebury College (Vermont), she was attracted to the act. When she earned her master's degree from the School of Fine Arts, she studied at the American Conservatory Theater. Belknap has a number of TV credits, which include characters in the series' regular role on Medical Investigation, Third Watch, ER, The Handler as well as Deadline.
